A smooth single origin coffee with notes of green apple and cane sugar.
La Esperanza would not be what it is without the tenacious Eledoro Villatoro, who passed away at age 92. Eledoro purchased his farm in 1956 after years of saving through buying, selling and transporting coffee. In those days it was very difficult to access Huehuetenango, but Eledoro tirelessly transported his purchased coffee by mule – sometimes up to 60 km.
His hard work paid off and soon he would purchase one of the first trucks in the region and began driving the coffee to the mill in Palin, some 250km away.
The current owner, Pedro Villatoro Castillo grew up on the La Esperanza farm. As a child he learned about cultivation and processing of coffee from his father Eledoro.
Pedro finds his daily motivation from his father’s efforts and is dedicated to keeping the high-quality production on the farm going for generations to come.
